About

Luke and Harry are both outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy physical challenges. Luke has previously rowed across the Atlantic, in 2013, whilst Harry canoed from Stockholm to Helsinki earlier this summer.

However there is always room for more pain, more tears and most importantly, more money reaching a great cause.

Horatio's Garden builds and maintains beautiful gardens in NHS hospitals that are designed to help people recover from life changing spinal injuries.

During recovery, spinal injury victims can spend up to a year lying indoors in a hospital bed, staring at blue curtains. Research has shown that being outdoors, connected to nature, can relieve stress and dramatically speed up recovery, making a huge difference for victims and their families.

Event details

6 marathons in 5 days in the Jordanian desert

The Wadi Rum Ultra is one of the world's toughest running challenges - a 5 day race over 260k (over 6 marathons) through the desert in Jordan in scorching heat.
The boys suffered cramps, a 24 hour vomiting bug, blisters and their toenails falling off. They stuck together through thick and thin and Luke said it was the toughest thing he had ever done - the last 48 hours were worse than anything he experienced on his 54 day Atlantic Row!

https://www.wadirumultra.com

Day 1: 47k -  bad cramps, very hot in the middle of the day but OK

Day 2: 50k -  better hydration and less cramp, very stiff sore legs

Day 3: 70k - a very long hard day with no real update from the boys as no Wifi/3G

Day 4: 57k - Luke plagued by vomiting in the night and during the run, had to be given anti-sickness injections so the run took 12 hours and both boys have huge blood blisters under their toenails which will fall off soon. 'Threw up all night.. didnt sleep probably the worst day of my life' according to Luke

Day 5: 36k - They made it! It was incredibly intense as Luke was still very weak from the sickness bug. What an amazing team!
