Dundee Rotary Club
This is the 4th year we at Tayberry Enterprise Ltd have entering a team into the Swimarathon. This year's team consists of:- Gillian- one of Tayberry's Directors and founder of the organisation. Scott- a former trainee and staff member at Tayberry cafe, who has moved on to college and employment. Mark- father to one of the three youngsters in the team, Liam.
All our Team have volunteered their time and effort to raise funds, to help Tayberry continue the excellent work it does.
Special thanks goes to our younger team members. Liam- His 3rd Swimarathon for us, and always happy to help out. Olivia- Daughter of another Director, Lorna Hanna, often finds herself helping mum with fundraisers. Jojo- Olivia's friend, we are delighted she chose to support our organisation. Such fine examples of young people, involved in volunteering activities in their community.
Help us grow and create further training opportunities.
Tayberry's mantra is:-
"Empowerment through Employment" we provide creative art activities, volunteer opportunities and training placements in catering for people with significant health barriers to employment.
Dundee Swimarathon 2018
Last year nearly 400 swimmers completed the relay swim event organised by the Rotary Club of Dundee to coincide with the world’s biggest one day swimming event. Rotary clubs across the globe participate in events to raise money for the international End Polio Now campaign and other Rotary causes.
The Dundee event attracted teams from all parts of the community including three schools; Invergowrie Primary School, St Johns Academy and High School of Dundee; six swimming clubs including Dundee City Aquatics, Menzieshill Whitehall, Dunfermline Waterpolo Club, Monifieth and YABBA; charities such as Brae Riding for the Disabled, Help for Kids and Tayberry along with many other sports clubs, teams of work colleagues and Rotary families. Each team had a 25 minute slot over the course of the afternoon to complete as many lengths as possible. Participants swam over 63800 metres which is equivalent to a distance of 39.7 miles.
