About

After working at the Edinburgh Marathon last year I (perhaps stupidly) decided to take up running myself and take part a year later. The next day I (perhaps sensibly) signed up for just the half marathon which I will be running on the 25th May this year. I have decided to take the opportunity to raise as much money as I can for two causes in Edinburgh that are close to my heart, the Wester Hailes Youth Agency and the Kilbrandon Fund. Both are small charities dedicated to helpingyoung people in Edinburgh, and any money you can spare will go a long way to making a vulnerable young person’s life better. As a board member of the Youth Agency and a Children's Panel member these are two causes I have seen work and truly believe in, please give your support. To make things a bit more of a challenge I have a target of completing in under two hours and if I don't I will donate another £50 to each charity.

Event details

Edinburgh Half Marathon 2014

Working in schools, on the street and from the Pyramid youth centre the
Youth Agency provides a safe and supportive environment, a shoulder to cry on
and a source of sound,non-judgemental advice to the young people of Wester
Hailes.
The Kilbrandon Fund is a small charitable trust run by the volunteer
panel members of the Children’s Hearing system. It provides small grants to
looked-after and accommodated children for things that would not normally be
paid for by Social Work (e.g. football boots to join a local team, school trips
and swimming lessons). A very small amount of money will allow a young person
to have a bit of normality in their lives that they may not otherwise have had.
All money raised will be split 50/50 between the two charities. I have
set up this page under the Youth Agency and once all the funds are collected
half will be paid directly to the Kilbrandon Fund.
