Raising money for
Action Through Enterprise
Donations accepted until 10-12-2016
I began volunteering with ATE in Lawra, Upper West Ghana in June last year. I absolutely love the work of this small, growing charity and the people we work with so I extended my few weeks to 4 months and continued to volunteer for ATE in the UK when I returned. I now work for ATE as the Operations and Fundraising Officer. My love of Ghana which began when I was posted there with VSO in 2012, has only continued to grow. I believe so much in the work that we at ATE are doing to reduce poverty in Lawra through education, enterprise and social change. In my role, I have a particular focus on the Special Needs Awareness Programme. Issues of equality and disability have long been close to my heart. Knowing the level of need to raise the inclusion of disabled children within the community, increase access to education and health services and reduce stigma and discrimination for those children andtheir families, I aim to raise funds to support this vital programme. Thank you.
Thames Bridges Trek
The Thames Bridges Trek takes place on Saturday 10th September. It’s a 25kmtrek zig-zagging across the historic bridges of London. Raising funds for theATE Special Needs Awareness Programme (SNAP), I will be joining thousands ofothers on this challenge. Setting out from Putney Bridge, then East towards thecity with a finish line celebration by the iconic Tower Bridge. For me it is a great way to get fit but absolutely most importantly, to raise money for SNAP. ATE currently supports 150 families with disabled children in Lawra and Jirapa,Upper West Ghana. The programme offers a real life line to disabled children and families. ATE is working with these families to improve lives, bringinclusion, advocacy, and provide basic healthcare and education, and materialassistance where needed.
