Circumnavigation of Lake Victoria

Dave and James
In November Dave and James will attempt to cycle 1000 unsupported African miles around Lake Victoria.
About
Dave is an anaesthetist at North Devon Hospital, a keen cyclist and always up for an adventure. He conceived of the idea of cycling around Lake Victoria after donating to the Amigos appeal 'Pedal out of Poverty'. James works for Wings South West in Bideford, he has dabbled in long distance cycling before but will freely admit to being a little daunted by the scale of this challenge.
Event details
A Lap of the Lake..
Dave and James will attempt to cycle 1000 unsupported miles around Lake Victoria in East Africa. Starting in Kampala they'll pass through Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya fending for themselves along the way. Hopefully they will find enough nutrition and water in the small towns they pass through, as well as the occasional place to sleep. They'll be facing bad roads, high temperatures and the odd torrential downpour. Passing close to a few game reserves they aim not to have to outrun any African wildlife...
