Coming alongside the charity Bridges to Prosperity a team of 10 volunteers from COWI and Freyssinet are preparing to travel to southern Rwanda to support the Ngaruira and Ngeri communities as they build the new Kucyaruseke Bridge, a safe, new crossing over the Akanyaru river.
The timber crossing currently in use (see pictures) is often washed away during heavy rains which can run for three months of every year. The residents need a safe, permanent structure.
We have the opportunity to become a small part of the story of the 3,000+ people living in Kucyaruseke. It is an opportunity to contribute to the provision of a basic need we often take for granted; the ability to get to the other side.

Building the Kucyaruseke Bridge in Rwanda
The 80 metre Kucyaruseke footbridge will improve access to healthcare, education and markets, as well as significantly reduce the travel time for the locals - giving them back this time, a precious commodity.
We will give of our time, our energy and our expertise. We could use your help to raise the funds we need to get there and support the construction. We could also use your encouragement and support.
We have a particularly tight timeline to achieve our goal. Whatever you are able to give will be a major boost to us.
Any funds not applied to this project will be utilized to support Bridges to Prosperity’s general operations.
