About

Kera-Kundanpur Youth Wing is organising an ultimate fundraiser event to raise money for St. Lukes Hospice, Hope for Nepal and our youngsters of KKYW. On April 13th 2017, 24 hikers will embark on a thrilling, yet amazing 14 day once-in-a-lifetime mountain trek as we are pushed to battle our physical and mental limits to conquer Everest Base Camp.

St. Lukes Hospice provide end of life care for people whose illnesses are no longer curable. They provide support and care to the patient and families to ensure the best quality of life.

After the recent earthquake disaster Nepal experienced, we are raising money for charities in Nepal to build safe and secure educational and recreational centres in rural parts of Nepal.

KKYW aims to engage youth through sports and social activities running for the last 23 years, providing them a platform to enhance their skills and abilities outside of education.

Event details

KKYW Everest Base Camp 2017

24 trekkers will embark on a thrilling, yet amazing 14-day mountain trek to summit Everest Base Camp in aid of charity. The journey has already begun with gruelling training regimes which took place at the Chiltern Hills. Training was rigorous with commitment to weekly treks, comprising of early starts and hundreds of hours of trekking the hills. After many months of harsh English weather, the team is now ready to experience this journey of a life time. The trek will begin from day one, where the trekkers will land at the world's most dangerous airport. Hereon, we will then begin the ascent to Everest Base Camp facing challenging altitudes, harsh weathers and dangerous paths. Lukla will welcome the trekkers to a chilling and death-defying view of this airport. The journey will commence through many Himalayan villages, staying in local tea houses with minimal luxuries. Struggling through freezing and snowy conditions of Namche to the icy paths of Cho-la Pass, the team will experience magnificent views and breath-taking landscapes, to finally reach the summit of Everest Base Camp.
