Traveling/Walking for Ndi Moyo Hospice, Malawi
I am a global traveler and was walking in Ireland in 2016 creating awareness for a US charity, though it bothered me that this charity's CEO made $200,000 and over 15% of funds were used for administration and such. I was thinking what will I do next year and perhaps there is a small local charity that needs
A few days later I saw a car with a logo of the African continent on it and went into a hotel looking for the owner. I found Lucy and she shared with me her story( go to https://youtu.be/zNXQkk9xvyY
to see and hear from her directly).
Ndi Moyo is a Malawi, Africa charity providing assistance to dying patients(typically AIDS and Cancer). Their annual budget is only about $200,000 and all the money raised goes to supporting patients.
Lucy explained to me that there are 18 million people in Malawi; one of the world’s least developed, most densely populated countries, with one of the lowest per capita incomes. One doctor per 50,000 people and only 2 Cancer doctors and no radiation or chemotherapy capabilities. Check out www.ndimoyo.org to find out more and focus on the patients. Frances' story touched me. I'm sure one will resonate with you.
Nairobi to Capetown & 1000 Kilometrs on The Camino
I will be blogging about my travels and Ndi Moyo at www.thesenioradventurer.com
On 3 January I fly to Nairobi and will travel throughout East Africa on safaris to see gorillas, elephants, lions, giraffe and other animals and walk in the Mountains of the Moon in Rwanda. Then I will start south walking up Kilimanjaro and or Meru before making my way to Ndi Moyo in Salima, Malawi. I will help in any way I can for a few weeks before continuing on to Victoria Falls, Okavango Delta in Botswana and other safaris in southern Africa eventually making it to the southern tip of the continent at Capetown.
In early May I will fly to Europe and make my way to Seville, Spain where I will walk The Camino via de la Plata.
This is a 1000 kilometer pilgrimage to Santiago de la Compostela and then another 120 kilometers to Finisterre and Muxia, at the edge of the world.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a British site and while your donation goes 100% to Ndi Moyo, it is in British Pounds. So make sure and use a converter, i.e.; $100 = 81 British Pounds
