1 Million Steps 100 day Challenge (500 Miles)
As a Trustee and Vice Chair of Youth Concern we were tasked to come up with a personal fundraising challenge - having recently become the proud owner of an activity tracker and now slightly obsessed with getting my steps in on a daily basis (and failing miserably) I thought it would give me the challenge needed to get fitter whilst raising money for Youth Concern - purposely done over Christmas to get me off that sofa, which is no mean feat. More importantly it's walking 1 million steps, equivalent to 500 miles in the lives of our vulnerable young people at Youth Concern. I have also persuaded colleagues and friends to join me in this challenge. Please feel free to join too - it would be great to make this an annual event. Thank you for donating - you will make a real difference to our young people.
1 Million Steps 100 Day Challenge (500 Miles)
Between 1st October and 8th January (100 days) I'm aiming with a number of colleagues and friends to walk 1 million steps, which is equivalent to 500 miles (virtual Scotland's Route 66, North Coast 500) to raise funds for a local charity Youth Concern. Last Year they worked with 535 vulnerable and disadvantage young people aged 13-25 many of whom have complex needs. Youth Concern does an amazing job in providing services for young people in need, but this costs and the Service relies on fundraising to provide these much needed services:
- 1 night in Nightstop for a young person facing a homelessness crisis costs £50
- 1 session of counselling £25
- 1 drugs prevention support session for young person at risk of harm £10
- A music studio session £15
- 1 employment support session for an unemployed young person seeking work £25
