Girlie Runs London Marathon
I was diagnosed with Primary Hyperparathyroid disease in March 2018- This is a little known condition which causes too much calcium to be produced by the tiny parathyroid glands in your neck. This causes tiredness, anxiety, memory issues, as well as too much calcium can lead to an increased risk of kidney stones and renal failure. The cure is to have surgery which I had in October 2018.
I found the condition very life limiting and got my life back in October when I had the surgery.
I have always been an active runner and this disease curtailed my activity levels greatly until the surgery.
on 28 December I ran the Great Barrow Challenge Marathon with my friend 9 weeks after my surgery
Virgin Money London Marathon
I am running the London Marathon for everyone affected by PHPT because I am grateful to be able to run. I am raising awareness of the condition and also funds for Hypopara UK who have been a great source of support and to help them continue their campaigning and support work for people with these conditions.
If you could spare some pocket change to help my cause it would be awesome. #CheckYourCalcium
