Jono's ride to the seaside
Raising money for two great charities - The Brain Tumour Charity and ARCOS, a charity based in Malvern who helped me.
Donations accepted until 18-10-2017
In April 2016, my fit, active, fun, full of life Uncle died after suffering for the previous 15 months from a very aggressive brain tumour. His loss has left a huge hole in our family and I want to help this underfunded charity to further their goals, of doubling survival and halving the harm for all those affected by brain tumours. #AcureCantWait
In 2001 I was seriously assaulted walking home. Luckily I was found some hours later by 2 members of the TA who looked after me until the ambulance arrived. I was in coma for 7 weeks and after I started to learn how to move and talk. I was transferred to a Neuro Rehab Centre where I was intent on walking, having arrived in a wheelchair. I received Speech therapy, physio and therapies to reteach me how to care for myself. I then moved to Worcestershire to live with my parents and continue my therapies and benefited from the work of ARCOS. Their experts treated me with a full range of therapies. It is safe to say that I would not be the active member of society, daddy, teacher, husband and cyclist if it weren't for their help. These are 2 important charities to me and helping raise funds & awareness will make such a difference to them.
Cycle fom Malvern to Broad haven
I will be riding from my home in Malvern to the village of Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire. I will be accompanied by my friend Dan Matthews and we will head for Brecon, avoiding as many Beacons as possible, then on to Llandovery where we will overnight. The next day we will complete our ride, crossing the rest of Carmathenshire and Pembrokeshire, ending up by the sea in Broad Haven. (as we end up at sea level it'll all be down hill won't it??). I think a large amount of food and perhaps a well deserved pint is on the cards when we finish, after a big hug from my wife and children.
