Raising money for
Khora is a vibrant community centre in Athens supporting refugees with services including food, legal support, language classes, information, dentist care and a clothing free shop.
I have been part of the set up and running of Khora over the last year. A group of us who met working on Lesvos last winter wanted to set up something long term after the initial emergency response to the refugee crisis here in Greece. The Khora Community Centre in October 2016. This spring I am choosing a different kind of involvement with Khora in cycling for 9 days to help raise money for this project.
Khora runs as a small grassroots cooperative, by volunteers, relying on funding from small charities and individual donations. All of our services are offered for free and we have around 500 people every day from many different countries coming to access support and services, and to spend time in a safe welcoming place.
It has been an amazing project to be part of over the last year, and I am excited to be joining this cycle ride for the first leg, although I haven't cycled this far in many many years!
Thanks so much for all of your support!

We are fundraising for Help Refugees, who fund small grassroots refugee organisations. The specific group we are fundraising for is Khora, a co-operative made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. Their community centre in Athens provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and access to dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
