About

Well, it’s all over; I finished the 72 miles at 1230 hours on 18/8
The weather was sublime on this last day and although I am very tired, I could do it all over again (but won’t!).
I am enormously grateful to all of you who have supported me so supremely well in this effort of mine, and have contributed so kindly to the £18,000 raised to date.
In the last 7 days I have spent 25 hours on the water, made about 30,000 strokes with my oars which equates to 60p a stroke raised for charity. I know there are some people who will, as yet, help and I am sure that we will finish very near the £20,000 hoped for. The boat now goes to Pangbourne College to help young rowers gain confidence and the Feltmakers Charity & St Paul’s Chorister Trust will get about £10,000 each.
Thank you all so very much for your support – in all ways

Event details

Feltmakers' Clerk's 72 Mile Row

This is my 6th fund raising event in the last 15 years and it really is my final fling on behalf of humanity.

At the age of 72, I am going to row one mile for each year of my age which equates to 56 Olympic Rowing courses (2,000 metres each) - or crossing the channel at least three times in one week – or three Marathons in a week, give or take.
This means I will endeavour to row 8 Olympic courses a day, starting at 1000 hrs on the 12th August at the Pangbourne College Boat House.

I am doing this to raise money for two Charities: The St Paul’s Cathedral Chorister Trust and The Feltmakers Charitable Foundation. The money will be divided equally between the two Charities and I have the authority from both Charities to hold this event.
