The Chairman's Walk 2016
A walk across the chalk hills and valleys of Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset from my present home near Oxford to my childhood home in south Somerset.
Raising money for
Oxfordshire Prostate Cancer Support Group
Donations accepted until 02-10-2016
I have many memories of great walking holidays in Europe and beyond. After my initial surgery for prostate cancer in 2010 it seemed that resulting incontinence would put an end to long walks, but with patience and help from the marvellous team at the Churchill Hospital, that problem has been resolved. I am walking now for pleasure, but also because I want to show men that there is no limit to what you can do after cancer treatment. In my role as Chairman of OPCSG I speak to many newly diagnosed men who are anxious about the future. Money raised from this walk will help us to continue our work in giving reassurance and information (but never direct medical advice) to men and their partners who need support. I am proud of what we do and the great feedback from men with whom we work.
A walk from Oxford to North Perrott
My intention is to walk from my present home outside Oxford to my childhood home in south Somerset, staying with friends or in B&B on the way. I walked the first four days (Oxford - Wantage – the Ridgeway – Marlborough – Devizes, 58 miles) in April, and the dates are fixed at the end of June for completion of the last five days. I have decided to add some fundraising for OPCSG to the fun of walking.
UPDATE: WALK COMPLETED ON 3 JULY.
