Joe Gallimore - Up Ben Nevis
As a 37 year old fitness professional, I consider myself 'fairly fit', so when client and good friend of mine Tim asked me to join and support him in his quest to complete a physical and spiritual challenge that would allow him to raise funds for a very worthy local charity, I had to accept (even though at the planned time of the Ben Nevis Challenge, my wife will have only just given birth to our second child!)
Ben Nevis Challenge
This event will take place between the Friday 2nd and Sunday4th May2014.A fun filled exhilarating weekend based in the Scottish Highlands to conquer Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain standing at the proud height of 4,406ft! This can only be described as a “must do” once in a lifetime achievement and a fantastic way to raise money for a worthy cause. You will be picked up from either Glasgow airport or train station, stay in Fort William – safety presentation and talk from the Ptarmigan team in preparation for trek the next morning. The start of the route follows the old pony track from Achintee and crosses the flanks of Meall ant Suidhe to the Halfway Lochan. From the Halfway Lochan the track makes a series of uphill zigzags over increasingly rocky terrain to lead onto the extensive summit plateau where remains of the old summit observatory can be found.
