Jenny's doing WHAT?
Well, if I've sent you the link here you probably know most of the important stuff about me already. I'm 43, a tax accountant / mathematician / knitter / singer / cat lady, and I've decided to have my head shaved in support of Cambridge Women's Aid. They do amazing work, providing specialist support (including a refuge) to women and children who are affected by domestic abuse, but understandably keep quiet about a lot of it and so need every bit of support. I met a few of the women they've helped while doing the Freedom Programme last year and have seen that CWA's work really does make an enormous difference. (See http://cambridgewa.org.uk/ for more details.)
It'll grow back, right?
I'm going to get my head shaved. Not the full Vin Diesel look, but probably no.4 with clippers all over. I've had short hair before, but never this short, and it's only really something I can do while not working.
When? Definitely if I can raise £500, and possibly earlier if I get impatient! I don't really want to have no hair in December, for example...
Why? Initially, because I've taken up running and regularly wish all my hair away on particularly sunny days. Also because it's actually a big deal: I'll be losing over a foot of hair, and will quite possibly end up looking like a bristly potato. Mostly, though, because I want to raise money for CWA and can't really ask you to sponsor me to do something that isn't a challenge.
Yes, I'll be growing it back afterwards. I'd like to have had extremely short hair, to see what it's like, but I seriously doubt I'll want to keep it that way. Granted, this'll give me the chance to try outrageous colours while it's short, but I can pretty much guarantee I'll end up going back to long & black eventually.
