Jayne's London Marathon 2019 Challenge
In August 2012, I was diagnosed with breast cancer; a 45 yr old, fairly fit single mum.
After being accidentally kicked in the chest area, I decided to have what I believed to be just bruising checked at my GP.
The week that followed saw my very first mammogram, ultra-sound and biopsy. 2 weeks later breast cancer was confirmed. Devastating news and all I could think about was who was going to look after my daughter.
What I had felt was in fact 'just bruising', but the mammogram showed an area next to the bruising which seemed not quite right.
Now 6 years later, after incredible treatment and care, I am still cancer free and know, first hand, how vitally important research and awareness is.
In 2019, my challenge is to complete the London Marathon for Against Breast Cancer, a national charity whose aim is to research for a FUTURE FREE FROM BREAST CANCER!
1 in 8 women and almost 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer EVERY year!
Your support would be amazing - A couple of coppers donation, tell friends and family and a cheer if you see me training or running in April.
I will get to that finishing line, one way or another!
Thank you xxx
Virgin Money London Marathon 2019
The Virgin London Marathon starts in Greenwich Park, next to the Greenwich Observatory. Runners then make their way through Woolwich, past the Thames Barrier and then Cutty Sark. They will then continue towards Bermondsy. At the twelve-mile point they will see Tower Bridge, which they cross before turning right towards Canary Wharf. Next on towards Limehouse and the 20-miles stage, where many runners may 'hit the wall' as their bodies run out of energy. Those who continue will pass the Tower of London, run along Embankment, past the Houses of Parliament and past Nelson's Column reaching the final 500m along Birdcage Walk, past Buckingham Palace and over the finish line to the sound of well-deserved cheers
