Jan Can Run For Alzheimer's Research
I am Jan. My running blog is on jancanrun.com and in it I write about my running for fun. There's one thing that is not for fun - that's my challenge to raise money for Alzheimer's Research. Like many who have seen the havoc that this disease wreaks on sufferers and their families, I was horrified to read that Pfizer have decided no longer to continue their research into plaque in the brain. They have stated that this was one line of research that very sadly has not produced the results they hoped for, and that after 10+years it will come to an end. This means urgent research is needed to find out what can stop this disease. Alzheimer's and other Dementias affect sufferers mentally and physically too. My pops suffers from this horrid disease. The research will come too late for him, but by fund-raising I hope to make a contribution towards the research, so that others have hope. I've never run more than 20km in a week so this challenge doubles my kms. It means I have to run rain, wind, ice, hail, or hopefully sunshine. Kms Done 24 December 2018 Kms To Do 0!.

2018 Km in 2018 for £2018
I intend to run 2018 kilometres during 2018, and am aiming to raise £2018 for Alzheimer's Research.
The rules of the challenge are:-
Each run must be a minimum of 5km in length.
The warm up and warm down elements of the run do not count towards the km total.
Each run must be recorded on Map My Run (or similar app) for proof of distance
Any donation, no matter how small, is really appreciated. I understand you all get many calls on your purses and wallets. If you think you could manage a donation of 1 penny or cent a kilometre, would limit your donation to £20.18 or Euros 20.18. Anything more would be truly wonderful.
This site is one of the best for ensuring the maximum money ends up in the charity's pockets.
I will blog my progress on my site jancanrun.com and on here, so you can see how I am doing.
