Lucy and James get on their bikes!!!
James Gregory Lucy Downes
Lucy and James (Digger) will be cycling their trusty steeds on a mountainous 750km route through Romania and Bulgaria over 6 days.
We are raising money for the fantastic work of KHORA, a community centre in Athens that provides essential support to refugees. Providing food, education, workshops and a safe space to hundreds of people daily, KHORA provides tangible support to the refugee community. Today, their work is more vital than ever and we have taken on this challenge to support them (http://www.khora-athens.org/organisation/).
We are attempting to whip ourselves into shape for what promises to be the biggest challenge we have ever faced! We know there will be wild camping, mountains and 125km a day. We also know that there might be bears!
All money raised goes directly to KHORA as we have covered all travel costs etc. Please donate whatever you are able to.
We will think of you as we cycle and cycle and cycle!!!
London to Athens 2018
A group of not-so-serious cyclists have set themselves the serious challenge of cycling between London and Athens. The ride is a relay-style challenge, with each participant taking on a week or two of the overall trip.
We are fundraising for Khora; a grassroots, proactive association running a community centre in Athens. Their centre provides basic and human needs for people without freedom of movement. This includes free nutritious food, clothing, education, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
Equally important to what they offer, is how they offer it. Khora is run by volunteers from all over the world. Its team includes members of the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers too. It prioritises dignity and respect in every service it provides.
The £60,000 we are aiming to raise will pay for the rent for their community centre for an entire year. The running costs of a project are typically the hardest to find funding for, so it of particular importance to be able to provide this for Khora, to secure a stable future for the project. All fund-raised money goes to Khora, and none on the ride.
