Great St Mary's Church South Roof Cycle Ride
I'm chair of the GSM Environment Group. Along with other members of Great St Mary's church who will accompany me some of the way, I'll be cycling 100 miles around the diocese of Ely on 12th August (south of Cambridge) and 13th August (north of Cambridge), 2017

Cycling 100 miles around the Diocese of Ely
Why? Well firstly the south aisle roof at Great St Mary's is leaking and needs repairing. But as well as making the roof wind and waterproof, we are planning to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of the church by installing 46 solar panels to produce our own clean electricity. We want our stewardship of the church building to also reflect a wise use of the Earth's resources.
Money raised by cyclists from Great St Mary's will go towards the roof repairs and the installation of Photovoltaic (PV) panels (planning permission from the city council, approval from Historic England and the necessary 'faculty' from the Church of England have all now been granted!).
Also as the Environment Co-ordinator for Diocese of Ely, I want to celebrate other green aspirations and eco-projects being planned and taking place at other churches around the diocese. So the 100 mile cycle ride will visit some of these churches who have got in touch over the past year.
