About

Some months ago a mate at work announced he wanted a challenge and that he fancied this one; I crazily agreed to accompany him on it, so on the morning of Saturday 23rd May 2015 at around 7.00 a.m. we will be setting off from Richmond, West London to walk 100 kilometers, or 62.1 miles in old money, to Brighton race Course. The terrain will be mainly paths and trails and it’ll be a case of setting off and keeping going until we reach the end. So head torches will be at the ready, along with a packed lunch! Or two! Whilst I’ve run a few marathons, this is something very different and will be a challenge and a half for me. A running mate did it last year and said it was hard….very hard.

Event details

London to Brighton 100K walk.

On 23rd May 2015 I'll be taking part in the London to Brighton 100K walk for the charity, The Laura Centre in Leicester. This is a charity which offers specialist bereavement counselling to parents whose child has died and also to children or young people who have lost a parent or significant person in their life. Myself and my wife, Marie, lost a child at birth over 19 years ago and we found that The Laura Centre helped us greatly in trying to cope with Christopher’s loss . They were also very helpful with our two eldest children who were only youngsters at the time.We will never say we got over his loss but the time spent at The Laura Centre helped us move on and I’m a great believer in talking; we will always be grateful for their help. That was some years ago now and I thought it was about time I gave a little back, hence this challenge. Your support will spur me on, so please give what you can and, many thanks. You can find out more about the charity at www.thelauracentre.org.uk/.
