About
I got the sailing bug when I started at 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scout Group (3rd CB) some 30 years ago. The Group taught me to sail dinghies and yachts, and opened up a whole host of opportunities such as sailing with the London Sailing Project and participating in the 1993 Tall Ship's Race. 3rd CB are raising money for a new building: http://www.3rdcb.org.uk/ourbigproject/ The overall plan with this building project is to provide a base to extend this training. This will not only be available to the Group but to other groups and sections in the community, thus offering this level of training and opportunity to children aged 6-18 in the local area. Raising money for 3rd CB from my trans-Atlantic expedition, seems a fitting way to pay something back, encourage more children into sailing and open up opportunities for the next generation of budding sailors. So please donate generously if you can!

ARC Trans-Atlantic Sailing
=12ptI'm participating in the ARC rally from Grand Canaria to St Lucia (along with c 300 yachts), which starts on 20 Nov to around 7 Dec 2016....so not long now! Sailing on a 47.7 Beneteau (Yacht EH01) with 11 others. One of my bucket list activities and dream gained from learning to sail at 3CB . EH01 was first over line in 2011 and we will be ambitiously looking for a similar result! You can download the race app to your phone (YB Races) to track our progress throughout (once the race starts on 20 Nov). I will update once the race has been named but it is likely to be 'ARC 2016 - Grand Canaria to St Lucia'.
