Skydive in Memory of My Dad, Steve Taylor
As many of you know, my beloved Father passed away in March last year, and I wanted to do something in his memory, to raise money for his old Scout Group, 16th Stapenhill.
My Dad, Steve, was a member of 16th Stapenhill from it's beginning; he started in Cubs, and continued through Scouts and Venture Scouts, then became a Scout Leader for the group and eventually took the position of Chairman.
My Dad loved Scouting, it ran through his veins and growing up, myself and my brother went on many Scout camps with him (I myself was a Rainbow, Brownie and Guide and my brother a Cub and Beever). Dad taught us all about the great outdoors and we all loved going camping and hiking together.
16th Stapenhill Scout Group was very close to my Dad's heart and they are currently saving up for a much needed new Minibus, so that the group can carry on going on adventures and in my Dad's memory, I want to help to the cause so I've decided to do a Skydive in his memory to raise money!!
Skydive - Spring 2018!!
I am going to be doing a tandem skydive, at Langar Airfield Nottinghamshire. I have booked to do this on the 18th of August (but I have been told, dependent on weather conditions I may have a few delays but let's hope not!!).
With a tandem parachute specially designed for two people, we will each board an aircraft and soar to around 13,000 feet (approximately two miles high!). When we (and our instructors) leave the plane, we will fall at about 120 mph, descending to 5,000 feet in around 40 seconds. At this point, my instructor will open the parachutes and fly us safely back to earth!
