Swim for the swimming pool at Woodlarks!
Woodlarks is a unique place where people with profound disabilities and volunteer helpers camp together. Throughout the summer the site hosts groups from young to old. It allows otherwise impossible experiences, including outdoor cooking, zip wire and camping out under the star to happen. The site also fulfills the crucial role of allowing much needed respite for carers.
Since the age of 15 I have helped at these camps, experiencing the impact this amazing place has on peoples lives.
Woodlarks is dedicated to offering low cost holidays. They try not to pass on site expenditure to campers. This supports parents and carers who may not be able to afford other respite. However, every year this is a challenge as the site needs a lot of upkeep to keep it safe and suitable for use.
The swimming pool is a favourite amongst campers, providing a space where they can move freely, in a less weight baring environment. It is also great fun!
This invaluable resource is also the camps biggest expenditure. The modern facilities installed to make this accessible for everybody need maintaining on a yearly basis. The money raised from this swim will go directly to this upkeep.
The big brutal swim!
On the 12th August I am going to take part in the Big Brutal Swim in Llyn Padarn. This is a 10K swim and as the name suggests, it is pretty gruelling! They even have to check you for hypothermia every 2.5k. I am 5 weeks into the 5 months training needed to take part in this event. Please be supportive, both to help me get through it and for the amazing cause I am supporting with your kind donations.
Woodlarks is a charity really dear to me, and all money raised will go towards the upkeep of their amazing facilties. Specifically your donations will help with the upkeep of the swimming pool that provides so much enjoyment for so many people every year.
