Great Borneo Trek - Helping Those Less Fortunate
"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough." Helping those less fortunate and giving back, is a way to do it right

The Springboard Charity
Originally born and bred in South Africa, I have grown up seeing on a daily basis how many people were (and still are) in desperate need of help. I remember at the age of 6 asking my parents why would some one need to beg on the side of the road, and despite my parents explaining to me in the gentlest way possible, I burst into tears.
From that time onwards, it has made me passionate and determined to help those less fortunate and in South Africa, there are so many opportunities to help! I was part of the Interact team in High School, became Vice President for Rotaract in my early 20's, donated blood, and helped wherever I could.
Since moving to the UK, I tried to continue my passion to volunteer, and have found it tricky due to all the hoops one needs to jump through, which has saddened me deeply.
When I saw this opportunity through my work at Royal Lancaster London, I jumped at it! I feel blessed that I get to help at least 70 people in desperate need of help through fund raising for Spring Board, but I also get to help build schools!
The epic trip includes a hike to Mt Kinabalu, trek through the rain forest to build schools for the locals, and a 9km canoe journey!
Springboard presents TREK '19: Borneo
In March 2019, 40 intrepid explorers from the UK hospitality industry will venture to one of the poorest countries in the world to help build a vital school in an isolated village, and raise money for some of the most disadvantaged people in the UK.
They'll climb mountains, canoe ancient rivers and trek through rainforests - testing their mental and physical endurance in order to make a difference to the lives of people in Borneo and back in the UK.
The TREK is organised by The Springboard Charity. For more information, click here www.springboard.uk.net/trek
