About

I am a 33-year-old wife, mum of one and cancer sufferer. Our lives changed forever in March 2017 when a trip to my GP with a cough resulted in a diagnosis of an advanced form of a rare and complex cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC).

With no other symptoms, it was a terrifying and heart-breaking shock to us all. Within 2 weeks, I underwent a 9-hour operation to have my right lung and surrounding areas removed.

In November of the same year, we were dealt our heaviest blow – the ACC had spread further and I have several tumours growing in my remaining lung.

Faced with a cancer that has no known cure, we are left in the impossibly difficult situation of looking for a treatment which we hope will hold off the progression of cancer for as long as possible.

Event details

FIGHTBACC

FIGHTBACC is our fundraising initiative to enable family and friends to support us in our aim to raise a meaningful amount of money that could help to deliver hope to ACC sufferers around the world.

We are supporting the ACC Research Foundation (ACCRF), which does amazing work funding research into life prolonging treatments for people with ACC. Being a rare type of cancer, ACC fails to receive the support that more common cancer types receive. ACCRF has worked tirelessly to fund selected projects, such that the prospect of curative treatments is now on the horizon. With your help, these can be made a reality. For more information on ACCRF, please go to www.accrf.org.

Before you donate, please note:

  • ACCRF is an American Research Foundation. The Anglo American Charity is a UK charity that has been set up to facilitate trans-Atlantic donations in a tax efficient manner. This enables both ACCRF and you as donors to benefit from Gift Aid.
  • We have an extremely generous offer to match the first £100,000 raised. So please donate in the knowledge that your money counts double!
