Raising money for
The Outward Bound Trust
Donations accepted until 30-12-2012
I am Deputy Chairman of The Outward Bound Trust and have been a trustee since 2002.I will be leaving the board in December 2012 at the end of my ten year term and I really want to do something to help secure the Trust for the future before I go. I will abseil from the top of the Shard down to floor 28. I'm planning to donate the last 8 floors (we can't go lower than floor 20 without abseiling through the roof of London Bridge Station) to Chloe, a 16 year old who lives and goes to school in Southwark. Chloe went on an Outward Bound course at Aberdyfi four years ago and is much braver than me! It's my pleasure to involve her in our big adventure and here's a picture of the two of us training.
The Descent of Shard - by invitation only
Soaring to 310m above the ground, The Shard is the tallest building in Western Europe, justly celebrated for its elegant architecture and elevation that delivers the most commanding views of London.
Before this extraordinary building opens to the public in early 2013, a small group of people are being given the unique opportunity to abseil from the pinnacle of The Shard in aid of charity. They will be trained by The Outward Bound Trust, supported by the Royal Marines, and guaranteed an exhilarating and utterly memorable experience.
Together, this small group of people will raise a landmark sum for two charities dedicated to helping those facing personal and physical challenges: The Outward Bound Trust and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
