Etta's Amazing Water Carry
I am Etta and I am four years old. I was recently shown a film at school about water and the importance of not wasting it. I already know not to leave taps running and that I don't always need to flush the toilet (yes, we’re one of those households) but I didn't know how many people in developing countries have no clean water at all.
Water Carry Challenge
I am desperate to help the people in the film and have pledged the contents of my money box to Water For Kids. As I'm four, only get a pound a week (when I've actually earned it) and am a bit of a spendthrift, I only have £9 so far, so during November, I will be carrying a 2 pint bottle of water 1km to or from school each day to raise more money for Water For Kids.
Over 600 million people in the world lack improved drinking water sources – that’s twice the population of the USA or TEN times the population of the UK. Collecting water for their families usually falls to women and children causing loss of education and, with it, opportunity, as well as physical damage with many girls carrying 10lbs of water an average of 6km on their heads.
Please help me to smash my goal; even 50p can help to change a life.
