About
Hello! Ellie here, this August i'm excited and terrified to be joining the Thighs of Steel London to Athens ride in week six, Sofia [Bulgaria] > Thessaloniki [Greece].
Here's why, it's a good why: Thighs of Steel raises funds for Khora; a grassroots, proactive association running a community centre in Athens. Their centre provides basic and human needs for people without freedom of movement. This includes free nutritious food, clothing, education, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax. Equally important to what they offer, is how they offer it. Khora is run by volunteers from all over the world. The £50,000 we are aiming to raise will pay for the rent for their community centre for an entire year. All fund-raised money goes to Khora, and none on the ride.
So 5 days, 520km and lots of hills are a mighty challenge for my noodle legs, I'd be delighted if you can sponsor me and spread the word of the incredible work the guys at Khora & TofS are doing. We live in a weird old time but enabling places like Khora to continue to show kindness and compassion to everyone who steps through it's doors more important than ever.
Thanks E x

London to Athens 2018
A group of not-so-serious cyclists have set themselves the serious challenge of cycling between London and Athens. The ride is a relay-style challenge, with each participant taking on a week or two of the overall trip.
We are fundraising for Khora; a grassroots, proactive association running a community centre in Athens. Their centre provides basic and human needs for people without freedom of movement. This includes free nutritious food, clothing, education, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
Equally important to what they offer, is how they offer it. Khora is run by volunteers from all over the world. Its team includes members of the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers too. It prioritises dignity and respect in every service it provides.
The £60,000 we are aiming to raise will pay for the rent for their community centre for an entire year. The running costs of a project are typically the hardest to find funding for, so it of particular importance to be able to provide this for Khora, to secure a stable future for the project. All fund-raised money goes to Khora, and none on the ride.
