Lizz's skydive for Malawi
I'm doing a skydive to fundraise for MACS to go towards projects I'm participating in July to improve lives in some of Malawi's poorest communities!
Raising money for
Malawi Association for Christian Support
Donations accepted until 30-09-2016
In July I am visiting Malawi, the country my Mum grew up in and one of the poorest countries in the world. I will be travelling with my sister, two of my cousins and a group of volunteers from the Malawi Association for Christian Support. While we are there we will be working alongside the local people, participating in projects big and small to benefit some of the poorest rural communities in Malawi! One of the areas we will be visiting is very close to my heart as it is home to the John Leake Play Centre which was set up in 1974 after my Grandfather (the Reverend John Leake) passed away. This is part of the Chilema Ecumenical Training and Conference Centre, which my grandpa helped to set up and which has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. It runs many courses in community development and focuses strongly on the empowerment of women through its Women's Programme.
I will be jumping out of a plane somewhere in Kent'scountryside as part of my fundraising.
Whatever money I can raise by jumping out of a plane
will be going towards the projects we take on, including building materials,
playground equipment, clothing, shoes and toys for the disadvantaged children
who attend the John Leake Play Centre.
