As we, Elizabeth and Paul, enter our 65th year we are determined to lose 4 stone in order to support the Ruth Hayman Trust and increase our fitness.
Raising money for
Ruth Hayman Trust
Over the years we have gradually put on too much weight and so now we are determined to lose some of the extra pounds. It would be good to walk up Muswell Hill without getting out of breath and to be able to attempt some longer distance walks. We want to lose 4 stone between us before the end of August. We both turn 65 in April so now seems a good time to start, partly inspired by a colleague, David, and by wanting to raise some money for the Ruth Hayman Trust.
Why the Ruth Hayman Trust? Having been a trustee (Elizabeth) and supporter (Paul) of the Trust, we are very aware how much the need for their grants is increasing year on year. Everyone agrees how important it is for those settling here to learn English but not everyone knows how much this can cost. The Trust provides grants for course fees to those committed individuals, often refugees, who cannot afford them so that they can then learn English, progress and integrate into society.
We are aiming to lost 4 stone between us from now to the end of August. We are asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor us. You could donate by the pound (lb) lost or a lump (!!) sum. We shall update you regularly on our progress, successes and the inevitable setbacks. But you will know that whatever happens yourt donation is going to a really worthwhile cause. Week1 we lost 9 lb between us and Week 2 it was 4 lb but that did include birthday meals and Easter treats. Weeks 3 and 4 only 2.5 lb between us. We had a great break in Scotland with lots of walking but also lots of booze. Back on track now. After 6 weeks we have lost 19lb so we are on target to lose 4 stone by the end of August. Elizabeth has started at a gym and Paul continues swimming with extra walking. 2 months on and we have lost 24.4 lb despite "welcome back" carrot cake for daughter returning from 8 months travelling and chocolate birthday cake for son.
