Hello everyone! I am a clinical academic Haematologist with particular interest in Haem. Oncology,Stem Cell Transplantation & Precision Medicine. My companion Dr. Raimund is a scientist in drug development.
We have been privileged to train and work internationally. My career is devoted to improving human health via direct patient care, education, policy and quality improvement. Global Health is a great cause to mark 5 decades of my life full of challenging experiences and we are looking forward to completing the challenge.
The trek is dedicated to Georgia, to all those who have influenced my career and life and those who stood by us in the most challenging times and to all my patients over the years. Also, we undertake the challenge in solidarity with my colleague and friend at the UW, Professor Tony Blau and his family. Tony is a man of great spirit, character and dedication in the global fight against cancer, who is currently undergoing a Stem Cell Transplantation himself.
Sahara Desert Trek
In October 2016 Team RCPath will be taking on a challenge of a lifetime to support the improvement of pathology and laboratory medicine services in under-resourced countries.
This eight day trip will take members through the vast desert and sand dunes of the Sahara Desert. With a team of local Berber guides and some camels (as well as a 4x4 support vehicle) members will trek each day through the dunes and camp each night under the stars in the Moroccan wilds. At the end of the challenge members will have the chance to take in the markets, palaces and gardens of the city, before enjoying a big celebratory meal next to the main square.
