Running the Bristol 10K for INPUT
INPUT - Supporting access to diabetes technology
Donations no longer accepted
I've been living with type 1 diabetes for over 25 years, and using an insulin pump since November 2011. This is only the second time I've ever attempted a 'proper' run of any distance, but INPUT are worth every step.
INPUT is a small, independent charity that helps people with diabetes navigate the sometimes tortuous process of securing access to insulin pump therapy. They also do all sorts of vital advocacy work behind the scenes to promote adoption of important diabetes management technologies such as insulin pumps, CGM and sensor augmented pump therapy.
With around 12,000 runners expected to take part in 2014, the Bristol 10k is now one of the fastest growing and most popular events of its kind in the UK. Mercifully it's a mostly flat course through the beautiful Harbourside and out along the river Avon under Brunel's Suspension Bridge.
