Raising money for
The UK Sepsis Trust Ltd
As Chair of Doncaster 7 Ladies Circle, Colleena has chosen to support The UK Sepsis Trust as her chosen charity.
In 2016, three weeks after giving birth to her son she went to see the emergency Dr and was sent home after being told her symptoms were due to womb contraction following childbirth. 48hrs later she went to A&E with sever fever, shortness of breath and acute abdominal pain. After a 3 hour wait, she was rushed to resuscitation blood cultures taken and immediately placed on IV antibiotic and told that she had sepsis, 48hrs later this developed into severe sepsis, pneumonia and a collapsed lung. Prior to being admitted to hospital she had seen a number of healthcare professional none of whom considered “could it be sepsis”. What started off as a bacterial infection within 48hrs turned into a life-threatening illness.
Sepsis claims 52,000 deaths every year, 5 death every hour. 25,000 of these are children. These staggering statistics are in the UK alone.

Yorkshire three peaks challenge
There are 12 members of Doncaster Ladies Circle supporting Colleena in this challenge. There are a number of members that have been either personally effected by sepsis or know someone who has been effected, so its a cause to the heart of a number of our members.
The team have been training both together as week as independently so that we are ready for this challenge!
There are numerous people that are gifting their time on the day of the challenge so that all our fundraising efforts go directly to The UK Sepsis Trust instead of paying for a guided trek.
NMC Surfacing, Colleena's employer have provided T-Shirts for the event as well as publishing through their own social media channels to help Doncaster Ladies Circle raise awareness of their fundraising efforts.
Please help keep us motivated and support our efforts by donating generously.
