Derek is cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End
I am cycling with 4 friends from John O'Groats to Land's End during September this year.
Donations accepted until 24-12-2017
Since retiring, one of my hobbies is cycling. Every Thursday, I cycle with a group known as Camrollers. Five of us had the idea to cycle the length of Britain - John O'Groats to Land's End - and we decided to do this for charity.
Each of us is cycling for a different charity, or charities and I have chosen the Cambridge Cancer Research Fund and the Papworth Trust. It would really encourage me to complete the ride if you would sponsor me to help these charities.
We are paying all of our own expenses, so everything we raise will be donated to our selected charities.

The End-to-End challenge
We’ve planned an interesting route which avoids most main roads and large cities. It’s about 1,150 miles over 19 days. I am trying to raise at least £1,150 - £1 for each mile cycled.
We’ll be starting from John O'Groats on 5 September, and will reach Land's End on 24 September. We are unassisted - that is, we have no support vehicle and will carry all of our kit ourselves.
You can find more details and will be able to follow our progress at our website:
We aim to update the blog each day during our ride with maps, pictures and descriptions of our adventures.
