Raising much needed money for elderly in Falmouth
On 21 May 2016, myself and Alec took part in the Gothenburg Half Marathon.
As Falmouth Age Concern (FAC) is always looking for ways to raise much needed funds to continue it's activities, I offered to run this race on their behalf.
FAC is a local independent charity in Falmouth which provides a lifeline for the elderly. They provide a regular volunteer befriending service, several clubs and classes, summer excursions and more. It really makes a difference to the elderly in the community, helping to alleviate loneliness and isolation and they need to raise their own funds to keep the services going.
As it took a little while to set up this donation page I have already completed the race but it would be wonderful if you could still sponsor me. Some sponsorship has been raised through traditional paper sponsorship sheets.
Half Marathon in Gothenburg
Gothenburg is the world's largest half marathon with over 65,000 participants.
It was an amazing experience running through the city but with so many participants we didn't start running until 1.30pm when the race started at 10am in the morning!
I ran the race in 2 hours 8 mins 53 seconds. Alec completed it in 1 hour 47 mins 23 seconds with a damaged leg!
It took longer to get back to our wonderful accommodation in Gothenburg than it did to complete the race. (Huge thanks to Erika, Steven, Ethel and Edward for their support on the day)
