London-Surrey 100 Mile Cycle
Zimkids help vulnerable children and their families to get out of poverty. An awesome charity I had the privilege to volunteer with in 2011 & 2016.

Let me tell you the stories behind the six photos above.
I met cousins Maddie* & Paxton* in 2011 (photo middle top). Maddie’s face was cracked from malnutrition, the Zimkids team later found she was suffering abuse. Zimkids helped their Grandma with food and school fees. Maddie is now a transformed girl after receiving counselling and support (top right). Paxton was struggling with bad behaviour at school. Zimkids provide support lessons and taught him practical farming skills. Seeing him again in 2016 he was the most diligent student in the Zimkids classroom. The fabulous maize crop in the bottom middle photo was grown by Paxton.
Deanne* (bottom left in red school blazer) is one bright young women. Zimkids is currently sponsoring her degree at Harare University, she gets a term-time accommodation scholarship and during holidays she stays at the Zimkids base.
Maxwell* has HIV (top right & bottom right), in 2016 I visited his home, that day the team were concerned about his withdrawn behaviour. Zimkids spoke with his Grandma, then took him to a dentist and paid his treatment for a bad tooth abscess.
This 100 mile road race follows the route used in 2012 Olympics. I will be starting from Olympic Park, pedalling through the capital, into Surrey to climbing up Box Hill and Leith Hill then back in London for a finish on the Mall.
* not their real names
