Belfry u8s “giving back” moel famou walk
I am a veteran who served in the Irish guards alongside veterans lifeline founder nick perry.
I have took part in various fundraisers for veterans lifeline an met some amazing people I now call friends whilst doing them. I am also the manager of belfry youth under 8s football team in north Liverpool, our club chairman is well into his 80s and is also a veteran from the kings regiment.
I take great pride in coaching the kids and watching them learn and develop in the game we all love. We train on a wed night at bootle stadium An play Sundays at the new north Liverpool football hub on long lane. And their efforts and commitment to their team is great to see. We proudly were the VL logo on our shirts every matchday raiding awareness of a charity that has helped so many veterans in our area over the last couple of years and we want to do our part in helping veterans lifeline sustain the amazing work they do.
Belfry u8s moel famou walk
After asking the good people from veterans lifeline for a little help towards our new kit this year , the team of 7/8 yr olds have now decided they want to give something back.
as a club we struggle with funding and after a good think An a few chats I decided to ask the veterans lifeline angels could they help, within 48 hours I had enough money for 10 new kits , tracksuits, rain jackets balls bibs and cones, the kids were over the moon and are now by far the smartest team in the Walton and kirkdale jnr football league in Liverpool.
Any money for trophies/presentations/party’s etc is raised by ourselves the parents An the kids of the club, so to raise funds for our Xmas party this year the kids have decided to take on the great challenge of walking to the top of moel famou a mountain( just about ) in north wales and to say thank you to the good people of veterans lifeline, they have said whatever they raise they want to give half back to help nick help out the veterans ( some of who helped us with our new kit)
it will be a hard task for the kids but one which I’m sure with lots of effort , courage an determination the will successfully conquer
