Raising money for
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)
Rosie and I first became aware of the charity CRY 3 years ago after the sudden and tragic death of our young nephew Jamie.
Since then we have been involved in fundraising efforts for CRY and raising awareness of the charity and the fantastic work that it does to try to reduce the number of young people ( over 600 ) who die suddenly and with no prior symptoms every year. Since the charity was set up in 1995 they have carried out over 130,000 heart screenings on young people at more than 1200 screening days.
1 in 300 people that CRY tests have been found to have a potentially life threatening condition, whilst 1 in 100 have been identified with a less serious condition that could cause problems in later life.
That's a awful lot of young people who with the correct medical intervention and treatment could go on to live long, happy and productive lives, and a lot of families spared unbelievable grief.
Yorkshire Ridings fundraising for CRY
During the course of 2018 we will be fundraising at club events to raise money to donate to CRY to help fund their activities.
We also want to raise awareness of the charity and encourage any members who have relatives or friends in the 14-35 age group to go on CRY's website where they can register an interest in attending a screening session when one is being held in their area.
