About

.I am a retired swimming teacher who enjoys a challenge. In particular those that can raise money for a good cause. I am also very interested in the Great War History and my families connections to that time in this countries history.

Event details

Walking the days of the Great War

.Starting on the 4th of August at Folkestone 2014 where they will be unveiling their Commemorative Arch leading down the Road of Remembrance to the Harbour and finishing at the Menin Gate in Belgium on the 11th of November 2018. I shall be walking a mile for every day of the Great War. 1,561.Over those four and a half years I hope to follow the journey both my Grand Father took during the Great War as well as his two brothers, Frederick Hanmore and Ernest Hanmore. Frederick was present at the very first actions of the B.E.F. but was K.I.A. in July 1916. Like wise his brother Ernest who was killed on the 3rd of August 1917. Stanley, my Grand Father was a P.O.W. from the 21st of March 1918 but thankfully for me, he survived for me to tell and walk their stories. It will be quite a journey but with I hope a happy ending and raising a lot of money for a very good cause, our Countries Future.
