David & Gordon's 100 Miles For The Nestling Trust
To celebrate my return to full fitness after three years with a problem hip joint that involved three replacements I have decided to attempt a 100 mile bike ride. I am delighted my cycling (and former running) buddy, Gordon Hood, has volunteered to join me. We have chosen to raise money for the Nestling Trust being a very worthy cause with the main objective of building a home for 20 street children in Nepal. It is based in my home town of Devizes where the ride starts from. It's led by the inspirational Sue Hamblin and two of the trustees are friends. Also I have an attachment to Nepal, having worked there in the 1970s. I plan to return to Nepal in October for the first time in 40 years and hope to visit the project. Note that BT take no commission so the full amount of your donation will go to the Trust.
The Wiltshire 100
A 100 mile cycling sportive around the roads of Wiltshire on Sunday 7th September, starting and finishing in Devizes. We plan an early morning start and aim to complete the course in eight hours. Gordon and I have cycled up Mont Ventoux in the past but that was before my hip problem. The furthest we have cycled since my return to fitness is about 50 miles.
