About

I have been travelling to Malawi since 2006, when I took part in Mission Malawi, raising money, cycling Malawi, hiking Mount Mulanje and kayaking across Lake Malawi.
That first trip changed my life.
I then spent 11 years as a trustee of Friends of Mulanje Orphans, helping to raise funds to build a school, daycare centres, HIV clinic etc.
All the time, I have been in touch with Davy and Sally Chilakalaka.  These guys founded Kasupe and have gone on to build a school in Malawi on a shoestring.
Whilst 11 years ago, my focus was on helping vulnerable children who's parents had been wiped out by the pandemic of AID's today my focus has shifted to helping those children become educated, because without education they will not escape poverty!
Davy and Sally approached me to get involved with a new school project in an impoverished area near to the capital Lilongwe, called Dowa.
The conditions of the school did not surprise me, but compelled me to commit to fundraise and provide funds to build a new school for these children.
So please help me, help Kasupe to provide a quality environment for these children to learn!

Event details

Various

Over the coming years, we will undertake a variety of activities to fundraise for the children of Dowa.
This project is very different from others that have gone before, as we will involve the community of Dowa to take ownership of this project, to gain maximum buy-in and maximum success!
If you have any ideas to raise money, if you can provide any education support or you just want to send encouraging words, please do so!
Many thanks
Dave

The wonderful Amy Sutton and I are registered to run the Wilmslow Half Marathon on Sunday 18th March.  Covering over 13 miles, offers of a rub down for our legs after would be helpful!
The amazing Amanda Turner is undertaking a skydive for the children of Dowa.  More details to follow... Her class "Oak" have already donated - thanks Clarendon Road Primary School.
Friend Hannah Golden (who I cycled through Malawi with in 2006) has offered to undertake coffee mornings - hoping to raise £400!
