Yael's brother Donnie lived for just 142 days and for that entire time he lived in the neonatal intensive care unit at UCH.Life is very difficult for families whose relatives are there for long periods. Some families need to travel long distances and juggle the needs of other family members. For Yael and her family it was important to be able to create positive memories of life with Donnie.Donnie's Fund would like to make it easier for other families to do all of these things. And encourage dialogue on medical ethics.
Cutting our hair
We are each donating a minimum of 7.5 inches of our hair to the "little princess trust" - some of us already have and the rest of us are going to soon. It takes years and years to grow hair long enough to be able to donate and it isnt easy to say goodbye to it all in one chop. Our hair will not only will be turned into wigs for girls who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses but the sponsorship money raised will be given to Donnie's fund.
