Craig's 24 hour madness
I'm the vicar of St Richard's Church, Hanworth - a fantastic Church of England church with a real passion to serve its community.
I also love running, but not usually this far!
I'm taking part in the Autumn Centurion 100 to raise funds for Project Grow - our scheme to renovate a much loved but dilapidated church centre which for over 50 years has provided a community resource for Hanworth and Hampton.
Project Grow is about building on what's already happening, but also looking to a better future for all the people of our community.
The vision is to become a true community hub, with a bigger playgroup, extended youth clubs, a daily cafe, and the space to increase our provision for community engagement and courses – e.g. support for older people, debt management, parenting skills, mental wellbeing. The Project will also provide space for community meetings and concerts in an area severely lacking community resources.
Autumn Centurion 100 Mile Ultra
The Autumn 100 is a 100 mile continuous trail race based in the twinned villages of Goring & Streatley on the River Thames.
The course reflects the shape of a cross and takes runners on a series of 4 different 25 mile out and back spurs using sections of both the Ridgeway and Thames Path National Trails.Runners will depart from Goring at 10am on Saturday 15th October. The difficulty of this race should not be underestimated - runners will also be faced with up to 13 hours of darkness and the possibility of extremely low temperatures, rain and very wet and windy conditions. The trails may well be wet, flooded or iced over in parts underfoot.
