Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) is a rare and complex genetic disorder. It is often referred to as a ‘multi-system’ disorder because it affects a number of different systems within the body.

Amongst the most significant of these are:

* Increasing difficulty in controlling and co-ordinating movements (ataxia)

*Reduced efficiency of the immune system leading to more frequent infections (immunodeficiency)

*An increased risk in developing cancers, in particular leukaemia and lymphoma

*Prominent blood vessels often in or around the eyes (telangiectasia)

*Increased sensitivity to x-rays and similar radiation

The A-T Society is a charity that supports the families and loved ones of those affected by this condition. Their mission is to improve quality of life and care for people living with A-T while actively promoting research to lengthen lives and ultimately bring about a cure.

This is a charity that was very close to Colin and his family's hearts and he would have wanted his celebration of life to have left a positive impact for not only us, but the other families living with A-T.

In Memoriam donations

Please join us in celebrating an incredible man's life at Aldershot Crematorium on Tuesday 2nd May 2017 at 1:30pm. Those wishing to do flowers, please ensure arrangements are delivered to the funeral directors (A.& W.Goddard Ltd, Kent Road, Fleet, GU51 3AJ) by 11am.

We have decided to make this an 'open door' occasion where everyone is welcome as Colin was well loved by so many and he would have wanted us all there to celebrate together (so it could be a bit of a squeeze!).

The service will be very informal and relaxed with dress code non-black if you wish.

We will then be moving on to The Crown and Cushion (Minley Road, Minley, Surrey GU17 9UA) to continue with the celebrations as Colin would have wanted ie. food, drink and lots of laughter!!

Please let us know if you think you will be able to join us so we can work on catering numbers (along with any dietary requirements).

For those who cannot make it, there is not only this donation page, but we are also setting up a memory book. If you would like to share your pictures, stories and happy moments with Colin, please email us at
We would love to hear from you!
