CoastBusters End to End Big Ride
Malcolm Wearing and Rachel Adams
Malcolm lost his daughter in September 2017 which inspired him to complete a long-time ambition of cycling Land's End to John O'Groats. One of the charities that helped Malcolm's daughter before she passed away are now, in her memory, creating a pilot scheme building kennels for the homeless that have dogs. Previously, dogs were not allowed in sheltered accommodation with their owners, but soon they can have their faithful friends looked after as well.
Rachel has only been cycling seriously since January 2017 and was also inspired to complete this life-changing event. In this her first year, she has reached a landmark 1,000 miles under her own pedal power!
Land's End to John O'Groats Cycle Ride
The classic challenge of Lands End to John O'Groats (‘LEJOG’ or, when ridden in reverse, ‘JOGLE’) is just over 1,100 miles and it takes us all the way from the tip of Cornwall, right through some of the most scenic areas of the United Kingdom and on to the very top of the Scottish mainland.
LEJOG starts at Land’s End and from there the route takes us along the north coast of Cornwall, across Dartmoor and through Bristol via the suspension bridge. Continuing north through the rolling Cotswold countryside, passing through Cheltenham and on via Herefordshire and Shropshire, around Liverpool and across the wild countryside of Northern England to the Scottish border. After Dumfries we pass by Glasgow and continue on to the glorious scenery of the Isle of Arrran, back to the mainland we go through Fort William and Loch Ness on our way to John O’Groats with a celebratory meal and glass of bubbly!
