Hi, my name is Claire. I’m a registered nurses & lecturer at Birmingham City University. August 2017, aged 33 I was diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer & two weeks later stage 3 breast cancer. My smears were up to date, I had no signs or symptoms & was otherwise healthy. I decided to challenge family and friends to take on a new challenge to help raise vital funds for two charities which have been pivotal in my care and recovery.

To date I have had radiotherapy, chemotherapy, brachytherapy, several operations & lost all my hair! But I am still smiling, whilst I have faced my own challenges it has been inspiring & motivating to watch everyone choose their own challenge to support me.

What started off as a £5K challenge has now grown beyond what I could have ever hoped for. They smashed it threefold in just 9 months & the challenges continue!

My sister Sarah & I have both since found out we are BRACA2 positive & both need preventative mastectomies in the coming months. A new challenge awaits #mastectomytomarathon - my sister and I will be running the London Marathon ‘19 for Macmillan, whilst my hubby & brother in law will be running for Cancer Research.
