Raising funds for cancer through adventure
Help to fund research, treatment and adventures for cancer patients
Donations accepted until 23-10-2016
During 2014 and 2015 I received treatment for Breast Cancer, including two surgeries, six months of chemotherapy and twenty five days of radiotherapy. Thanks to the treatment and research by Weston Park Hospital, and to Challenge Cancer Through Adventure, who have inspired me to get into the outdoors again, I plan to complete the Haute Route Glacier Trek in the Alps in July 2016; exactly one year after finishing treatment. Having the adventure to plan has kept me positive, as has the support from family, friends and my workplace: Imparta.I would like to raise funds to support research and treatment at Weston Park Hospital, and to help other cancer patients to have their own adventures.
Haute Route Glacier Trek
The high glaciated seven-day trek from Chamonix to Zermatt takes in mountain glaciers and high passes, an Alpine summit and six nights in basic mountain huts. Every day I will climb over 1,000m in height, across boulders, ice, snow, scree and crevasses; roping up on the more exposed terrain and using crampons and axes for the more technical sections. I have been building up my fitness and stamina in preparation for the trek; mainly through fell running and climbing. I am however expecting the trek to be very hard work, as the treatment has affected my joints, circulation and staminaWish me luck!
