Claire and Fatmata on 2-wheels for AHL!
Claire will cycle (30k) and Fatmata will travel by okada to the hospital and healthcare libraries in Oxford, UK and Makeni, Sierra Leone!
Raising money for
African Hospital Libraries
Please lend your support to Claire and Fatmata on their epic challenge for African Hospital Libraries, as they endeavour to raise awareness of the need of the global health workforce to have access to vital up-to-date medical information.
Claire (AHL Co-founder and Trustee) cycled 30k, including up a hill, between the Oxford NHS hospital, Oxford Brookes and Oxford University health libraries. Fatmata M Kamara (Library Manager at Makeni Hospital Library), travelled by okada (motorbike taxi) to libraries in Makeni, Sierra Leone, on the same day!
Please see a selection of photos from today's challenge below - apologies that some are horizontal/upside down. BT MyDonate has a limit of 15 photos - we have more than 40 that we could have shared! We will be sending all the Oxford photos to each participating library - thank you all so much!
AHL 2-wheel libraries challenge
Claire's cycle challenge started at the Cairns Library (John Radcliffe Hospital) at 9am and followed a route around Headington, central Oxford, Littlemore and back through central Oxford, finishing back at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Thank you so much to everyone who showed their support on the day!!! It was truly amazing!! Thank you.
Claire and Fatmata want to raise money to help build a much-needed educational Resource Centre at Makeni Government Hospital, for use by hospital staff and healthcare students. This will upgrade the Makeni Hospital Library from its current tiny room. The land is there, the contractors are ready to start. We want to raise at least £6000 from this challenge towards the building costs.
