Raising money for
mast cell action
Donations accepted until 25-12-2017
I'm a trustee of Mast Cell Action–a new charity to fill the void of support for those suffering from Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Sufferers' immune systems react to everyday activities such as eating or exercise, crippling those affected and often making normal life impossible. There's a real lack of knowledge and treatment for this newly discovered disease and we have set up MCA to support sufferers, advance knowledge and drive for treatment. See www.mastcellaction.org for more.
Last year I walked The Thames from Barrier to Source in 15 days with 15 different dogs. (Why 15 dogs?-too long to explain here: happy to do so over a drink) The ensuing donations funded our first year. On that basis I will be repeating the walk in the reverse direction with 62 legs (2 human; 60 canine) in 3 phases September 20th through October 15th-ageing limbs permitting!
If you can see your way to donating, I'll be very grateful! Better still, if you can set up your own smaller scale sponsored walk with some interesting accompanying legs, that would be great: see info on how, in the associated event details or our website Many thanks Chris (This year's walk dedicated to Suzy, Becky, Helen & Piper)
Lets get 500 legs walking !
500 Legs... Every Foot counts We need walkers with or without a pet........ young or old, any distance Organise your own sponsored walk over 20 Sept to 16 Oct - we can help...
Chris one of Mast Cell Actions trustees will be walking the length of the Thames in 15 days with 15 dogs (thats 62 legs) and hopes to inspire others to do a walk as well.
Please join Chris by organising your own local walk with as many and unusual legs as possible. Set up your own fundraising page via this page. Visit www.mastcellaction.org for more details and to register
Beyond the number of legs, we’d also really like to deploy unusual legs-walking with a pig or a parrot on your shoulder anyone?-so as to attract interest and publicity. We think we may already have a friend and an alpaca walking round a Wiltshire village… any other ideas?!
In sum, we think it could be a great fundraiser, great fun and should generate lots of lovely publicity to raise the profile of this disease.
